Designs
Unlike more Conventional methods of construction, the design of tension structures is more complex & time-consuming. While design cannot be reduced to a strict linear process it can be summarized as a sequence of four broad stages:

Cost
As a very rough rule of thumb fabric structures are nearly always cheaper than planar glazing and more expensive than polycarbonate solutions.
They really come into their own in large span structures where the ratio of fabric to steel results in considerable savings over more conventional structures.
Small structures, under 100 sq.meters, can be relatively expensive since they tend to be design intensive.
